Richard Brouton refuses co-location of new Gaelscoil

We’re very sorry to hear the submission for a co-located Gaelscoil on the site of the new Educate Together school in Drumcondra/Marino has been refused. We felt they had a good argument since there are no Gaelscoils in that area of the city. Unfortunately, as is often the way with these things, the issue got caught in red tape, as a portion of the interested parents did not live within the subscribed boundaries of the school, and were not counted as valid in the application as a result.

One would think, that since there are no Gaelscoils in this area of the city, that this would clearly explain the interest from parents outside of the catchment area and would indeed have resolved the issue of availability for local residents as well as those parents willing to commute with their children.
