FAQs

When can my school register with primaryschools.ie?

We are now taking registrations! Once you fill out the registration form, your details will be verified and if your email address can be verified from the school website, an authorisation email will be sent to you. If not, your school will receive a security check phone call within 3 working days to confirm your school has chosen to register with primaryschools.ie. An authorisation link will then be sent to your email address.

What benefits will my school gain by registering with primaryschools.ie?

Schools can:

  • Receive applications online
  • Send receipts, information and forms directly to a parent’s primaryschools.ie account, removing the cost of stationery and stamps from the school’s budget.
  • Send individual or bulk templated responses to their applicants, thereby reducing the time spent corresponding.
  • Store their applications in our secure Irish based cloud servers according to their own data retention policies.
  • Retain responsibility for awarding their pupil places, while assisting parents through centralising the application process.
  • Remove the need to update parent addresses in the year prior to enrolment, as any edits to a parent’s profile will automatically update in any applications they have sent.
Will my school save time or money by using primaryschools.ie?

Yes, using primaryschools.ie will greatly reduce the number of hours spent administering applications, as well as saving the school money, by removing the necessity to send receipts, information and forms by post. We estimate a savings of over €800,000 across the primary school sector.

Additionally the software allows you to sort your applications according to your application policy criteria, so in the event of oversubscription, the time spent selecting qualifying pupils should be significantly reduced.

How will the software make administering applications easier?

Schools will be able to:

  • Send receipts, information and forms directly to a parent’s primaryschools.ie account, removing the cost of stationery and stamps from the school’s budget.
  • Send individual or bulk templated responses to their applicants, thereby reducing the time spent corresponding.
  • Store their applications in our secure Irish based cloud servers according to their own data retention policies.
  • Remove the need to update parent addresses in the year prior to enrolment, as any edits to a parent’s profile will automatically update in any applications they have sent.
  • Sort their applications by enrolment policy criteria, or by date or birth, application number, enrolment year, class of enrolment etc.
Are there any fees?

Schools may currently register for free. There are no annual fees. Schools may use our software indefinitely free of charge.

When will we start receiving applications once registered?

Parents may apply from 1 September 2016, once a registered school has published their application form.

Can I display the school’s enrolment policy?

Yes, there is a field in your school’s profile which will allow you to upload your school’s policy. This enrolment policy will be downloadable from your school’s general information pop-up box in the School Search function of a parent’s account, which can be accessed by clicking on the school name.

Is primaryschools.ie compliant with the Data Protection Acts?

Yes, primaryschools.ie will process and store your information in compliance with the Data Protection Acts 1998-2003.

Does primaryschools.ie have a POD integration?

You can download some or all of your application data in excel format for any given date range at your leisure. We hope a full POD integration will follow in late 2017/2018

Can I have more than one administrator on my account?

Yes, you can give your staff access as an Admin with full editing access or under a Staff account where users cannot upload policy documents, change the application form set-up, add users, edit profile or change templates.

What happens if I register with primaryschools.ie and then change my mind?

You can delete your account at any time. School information will still be available in our school search database but parents will not be able to apply to your school and your school will be listed as unregistered.

I don’t think all our applicants would want to apply online, or would have the necessary pc skills. Should we register?

There is no disadvantage to registering. Applying online is just one option for parents. They may still apply by post or in person to a school if they wish.

Even if a school receives no online applications, they can still use the software to store and sort their applications by uploading the postal applications they receive.

If you still don't want to register, you might like to contact us at support@primaryschools.ie to confirm your school's contact details, so that parents will be able to contact your school after searching for it on our school search function.
