What facilities will my primaryschools.ie account provide?

Your primarychools.ie account will allow you to:
• Search for schools using our Search Schools filter function. This filter allows you to search by name, location, ethos, gender, language of instruction or type of school. School types include Mainstream, Mainstream with Special Classes and Special Schools. The school type will also display the disability or special need that the school specialises in.
• You can find out contact details for each school, along with their website, whether they are a feeder school and for which school, and whether they are public or private.
• You can view the location of schools on a map and create a shortlist of schools you would like to send applications to.
• You can receive receipts/acknowledgements for applications, detailed school information, offers/refusals of places and general enquiry responses.
• You can store your school correspondence securely in our cloud servers.

How many schools are registered with primaryschools.ie?

We currently have 3291 schools on our school search database, and we are trialling the software with 40 schools. Schools may register with us at any time, so please do ask your local schools to register.

We are a brand new start-up and we hope you can bear with us as our registration base grows.

Does primaryschools.ie play any role in the allocation of pupil places?

No, primaryschools.ie only processes data on behalf of the school. The school retains full responsibility over the application data you submit and will decide which applications are successful and how long your data will be retained.

When can I start applying to schools?

You may apply to registered schools from 1 September 2016, once the particular school has published their application form.

We are currently in the process of registering schools, so we ask you to bear with us as our registration base grows.

Do all schools accept applications at the same time?

No. You must check the enrolment policy of each school before you apply. Some schools take enrolments from birth, others from the year prior to the year you wish your child to enrol.
You can find the enrolment policy of each school by finding the school you’re interested in, in the School Search section of your primaryschools.ie account and clicking on the school name. An information pop-up will open and you can download their enrolment policy from there.

How much does it cost to use primaryschools.ie?

It costs €12.50 per child to apply to an unlimited number of schools for a particular enrolment year. However, you may register an account and use the school search facilities without being charged. Payment will only be triggered when you send your first application to a school.

How many schools can I apply to for the fee per child?

You can apply to an unlimited number of schools during the same enrolment year.

How many children can I have on my account at the same time?

There is no limit to the number of children you may add.

How do I know if the school I’m applying to accepts applications from birth or from the year prior to enrolment?

You must check the enrolment policy of each school before you apply. Some schools take enrolments from birth, others from the year prior to the year you wish your child to enrol.

How do I view the school’s enrolment policy?

Do all schools offer places at the same time?

No. Currently schools set their own dates for offering places. The school will advise you of important dates in the application process via your primaryschools.ie account, after you apply.

How long will my data be held if my application is unsuccessful?

Each school will retain their application data according to their own retention policies. You must contact each school for more information.

You may delete your primaryschool.ie account at your own leisure. However, please be aware that once you delete your account, you will not be able to retrieve any information contained within that account such as your profile, application history, receipts, email correspondence etc. If a school continues to hold your application data in their primaryschools.ie account, it will remain on our servers until such a time as they wish to delete it.

Please do not delete your account if you have pending applications with a school, as they will no longer be able to correspond with you from their primaryschools.ie account and you will lose any correspondence/ receipts they have already sent you.

Is primaryschools.ie compliant with the Data Protection Acts?

Yes, primaryschools.ie will process and store your information in compliance with the Data Protection Acts 1998-2003.

If I apply for one child this year, can I use the same account to apply for a different child in following years?

Yes, just add child profiles to your account as the years go by. Your account will stay active until you choose to delete it. You may update your profile history as you need to.

I have already used primaryschools.ie for enrolling my child in school. However he will be changing schools. Can I still use the same profile for him in my account or do I need a new account?

You can simply log in to your existing profile and change the year of enrolment and class of enrolment for your child, along with any profile changes you might need to make, such as change of address. Once you try to apply to a school for a different enrolment year, it will trigger the payment process again and you can apply to as many schools as you like for that enrolment year.
